we have lift off

I have been contemplating continuing my education, in one way or another, for quite some time now. My motivation kicked into high gear about this time last year and I began researching local schools for a degree that might interest me. Being that I thought it was the right career decision to make, I decided to research MBA programs - which, in turn, introduced me to the hellish world of the GMAT. ugh. Even the thought of that ugly acronym sends shivers up my spine today... However, since I was at the pinnacle of purchasing a new home and planning a wedding at the time, I decided to put off graduate school for a bit and revisit the idea once things settle down for me.

So here I am - in a more "settled down" stage of my life - and I am back on the subject. Only this time I've decided to put a little more thought into the matter. If I am going to spend anymore time in a classroom - not one of my favorite places in the world - I want to make sure it is for something I am truly interested in. And going for my MBA isn't one of the first things that come to mind...

This thought takes me to a time in high school when I remember one of my teachers saying that we should 'discover what we are good at and combine that with what we enjoy to culminate what we want to do for a living'. With that theory in mind, I've uncovered my interest in web/graphic design. So there it is - my new venture is to pursue a Masters in Web/Graphic Design. And, even more exciting, I just got approval from my boss to do so - which means my company will be footing the bill. If you could see me now, you would see that I am doing the jig with bells on my shoes!

Who knew that the thought of going back to school would be such an exciting concept to me?!

The new page looks great. A lot of redesigns crash and burn, but this one is actually really sharp. Nice.

I've got 8 classes down, 8 to go on my MBA, and while I'm glad I'm doing it, it's a big fat pain in the ass. Had to do the GMAT, too -- I still get cold sweats and flashbacks from it.

The web/graphic design masters sounds awesome -- congratulations!
