patience is a virtue
I am getting my first taste of true parenthood. Sierra is running my husband and I into the ground and wearing our patience thin - and I say that in the most loving way possible. When we're not chasing her
around the house making sure she isn't using our furniture as chew toys, we're taking her outside every half hour to ensure she doesn't make a habit of using our carpet as her personal outhouse. One day we feel like we are making leaps and bounds of progress, she seems to be picking up on things that we teach her...and the next day we take 5 giant steps back as she becomes this defiant little furry child that wants to do things her way and nothing we say or do gets through to her. I am beginning to believe my child-bearing friends that raising a dog is actually more difficult than
raising a baby. Lord, I hope so.
But in return, we get this adorable munchkin that greets us at the door when we get home from work each day, wagging her tail and squealing with excitement as if she hasn't seen us in days. And she is growing up so fast! The day we brought her home, one of her ears hadn't fully stood up, so it was droopy...heart-wrenchingly adorably droopy. And within just a few days the cute droopy ear has now found its way standing straight up - three sizes too big for her little head. sigh. My little girl is already showing signs of growing up!
Anyway, enough mommy gushing for one day...
