are you mocking me?
Last night my husband and I were impatiently flipping through our hundreds of TV channels trying to find something half-descent to watch. Well, let me clarify - I was trying to find something half-decent to watch - my husband could watch hours of paint drying if it were on TV. I, on the other hand, like substance to my television shows...like Laguna Beach, Nip/Tuck...you know, something with quality.
So after perusing our many channels with no luck, we finally stumbled upon The Travel Channel's Vacation Home Search show. This sounds interesting, I thought. And I am immediately intrigued by the thought of living vicariously through people who can actually afford to purchase vacation homes...let alone search for them in the most decadent places in the United States. The basis of the show is to follow around a couple searching for their ideal vacation home - whether it be in the mountains, on the beach, or on a lake - and they make their decision after viewing three amazing options. The first episode (apparently there was a Vacation Home Search marathon last night) followed around a cute, older couple looking for a second home in the mountains of beautiful South Dakota. The homes were quaint wood cabins with asking prices in the range of 180k - 250k. Still nowhere within my reality, but it was fun to watch and think that maybe one day that could be my husband and I picking out our 180k - 250k vacation home. Good times.
The second episode wasn't so much. The episode followed a middle-aged couple looking to purchase a home in The Hamptons with a 4 million dollar budget. You heard it right folks - 4 big, big ones. It was fun to watch at first...seeing these people live a life that I know I will never have. But then it becomes more like, 'ok. enough all ready. you've got money and I don't. good for you.' And, with my skin actually turning a light color green, I turned the remote over to my husband and went to bed to dream about what my life would be like if I could afford a 4 million dollar home in The Hamptons.
