north carolina or bust

Since I was about 12 years old, my family and I have made a vacation spot out of The Outer Banks in North Carolina. Once my brother and I reached the age where we no longer wanted to share our vacations with our parents, we began renting out NC homes with large groups of our friends. It lasted a whole one week before my brother and I realized that we could not share a vacation home without wanting to kill each other by the end of the week...and for the last 6 or 7 years we have each gotten separate homes to fill with our best of friends...friends that have grown to worship the beaches of the Outer Banks as much as we do. My brother and I do our best to plan our vacations for the same week and even in neighboring homes if possible. Well, as my friends and I get older and more of us get pregnant or are spending the majority of our time (and money!) planning weddings...we find it harder and harder to get enough people to fill a North Carolina house. So I am now back to where the vacation started its roots...shackin' up with my parents. But this time around it's something my husband and I are looking forward to, rather than a family obligation.
