pulling at the heart strings
Tonight I will be parted from my baby furball for the first time since she came home with my husband and I two months ago. It's a feeling I can only imagine is the same as dropping your child off at daycare for the first time. The drop in your heart, hoping that your baby girl will be ok without you to watch over her...and hoping that she even realizes that you're gone, even if it is for just a couple of days.
I am making an excursion to the west coast on the behalf of my work obligations and, since my husband is traveling with work this week as well, my parents will be taking on puppy-sitting duties. I drop her off this evening. The first evening in two months that I will be not be followed around the house by a curious puppy, wagging her tail, wondering what is in store just around the corner. The first evening I will be alone in my house without the little pitter-patter of tissues being torn up, holes being dug in our carpet, and my sneakers being drug innocently from my closet only to be left soaked in slobber. sigh.
I think I'll be OK...

I need to lend you my pup so he gets some attention. It sounds like you are such a great mommy to your furbaby.
