bi-coastal sentiments
California is a state of mind. I came to discover this when I made a trip out to the west coast over the weekend - to the parts of Anaheim, CA (just south of LA) - for a business occasion that left me plenty of free time. I made the excursion without a traveling companion which gave me plenty of "me time" that I so desperately needed - and California is the perfect place to experience some undivided "me time". Maybe it was just my overly-analytical east coastal mind set, but people just seem so much more laid back and carefree in the Cali atmosphere. The fact that they are 3 hours slower than the rest of the country is very suiting.
I was able to accomplish hours of shopping, catching up on some movies I've been wanting to see (The Family Stone and Brokeback Mountain), and some major R&R. Unfortunately it was not poolside temperatures (but you know I went optimistically prepared with a swimsuit, just in case) but it was warm enough to strip off my winter woolies to enjoy 60 degree weather. ahhh. A nice break from the 40 degree temps here in Philly. First Day of Spring, my butt.
