what's next
Welcome to 2007. A year yet unscathed by the many good and bad events that our future holds. I always avoid the dreaded new years resolutions, as experience had taught me that they never hold true merely two weeks after making them. But I always go into a new year with the hope and confidence that it will be a year to remember. And since I am always trying to maintain or lose weight, there is no need to make a vocal declaration of this goal once a year for the sake of a “resolution.”
In retrospective, 2006 was good to me. My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary, my best friend got married, babies were welcomed into my family, new homes were purchased by dear friends, and engagements were announced. But, in all fairness, 2006 had big shoes to fill. 2005 was THE year for me so far – I got a job promotion, purchased my first home, and got married; all in a matter of about 9 months. When so many big events fall into one year, you just hope to maintain that happiness for the following year. What else could you ask for after a year like that?
But I anticipate 2007 will hold lots of exciting events for my family and friends as well. I have a funny feeling that the next 12 months hold a rollercoaster of changes for my husband and I. In the meantime, I’ll just keep my seatbelt fastened, brace myself for what’s to come, and enjoy the ride.
