guilt pangs

As my husband and I grow excited about our week-long vacation down in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, we are also becoming increasingly stressed about what we are going to do with Sierra while we are away. Our regular dog-sitters are not available the week we will be away and the few options we had for alternate dog-sitters seem to be falling through the cracks.

After pondering all our options, I did some research on local kennels. ugh. The thought of having to kennel our baby girl for a week makes my heart ache. Are we left with no other choice? But as I research further, I am finding that there are now kennel options that cater to every need. Amenities include Bedtime Stories, Cuddletime, Ice Cream Breaks, Doggy Desserts...all for an obscene price, of course, but include the comforts of home that make my mommy-conscious feel a bit better about abandoning my little furball to strangers for a few days.

Don't let those "hollywood spa like" perks fool you. When looking into a kennel, above everything...make sure the staff at the kennel is knowledgeable in animal safety & care (and are not some snot nosed high school kids loking for extra cash... you know the type: they work @ at places like Petsmart's kennel).

Also, there are cage free kennels now. I like to take my "Taz" there so I know he's not locked up in some cage for hours at a time.

Have fun on your trip!! :)
