california dreaming

I was recently given the opportunity to take a job in Northern California. It is a career move that peeks my interest in more ways than one with the added intrigue of the beautiful landscapes, the warm weather, and unknown adventures of, well...California.

If the same proposition was given to me even just 5 short years ago, I would have jumped at the chance. Now that I have begun to settle my roots here in Philadelphia, the thought of moving thousands of miles away from friends and family is a bit unsettling. Yet the idea of experiencing another part of the country is so charming. The free-spirit in me wants to give in to my curiosity and take a chance...a chance to make a change.

Back and forth...back and forth.

But the appeal quickly faded when I proposed the endeavor to my husband and he ever so cautiously, yet supportively, asked "...and what do you think of this opportunity?". I didn't have the heart to answer with anything other than "well, I don't know that I would actually take it...but it certainly is flattering, isn't it?". His pale expression swiftly changed to a sigh of relief.
