thinking outside the cd collection
One of my many fabulous friends gave me a $25 iTunes gift card for my birthday. And as much as I loathe the Evil Apple Empire right now...it was a totally radical birthday gift.
Yet, as totally radical as it was, it has faced me as a major challenge. The $25 gift card is allotted for the purchase of 25 songs through iTunes. And, as easy as this may sound...it is much more difficult than you'd think. I want to be sure that I use each $0.99 purchase to its utmost potential. I don't want to purchase songs that I already have on album or songs that I know I will eventually purchase the album, nor do I want to purchase songs that I know my friends already have the album or will eventually purchase - all these song options I can easily upload for free. And that, my friend, would be a waste of a perfectly good song purchase. So I need to think outside of the box. I need to think of rare, timeless songs that I know I not only love today but will want to continue to listen to a year from now. Therein lies the challenge.
I told you it wasn't easy.
Here are a few of my diligently-decided-upon purchases:
Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran
Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Clint Eastwood - Gorillaz
Re-Arranged - Limp Bizkit
Cherish - Madonna
Gimme Some Lovin' - The Spencer Davis Group
Cherry Bomb - John Mellencamp
Breaking the Girl - Chili Peppers
Another One Bites the Dust - Queen
Faith - George Michael
How did I do?
