pig pen

You know your dog is in dire need of a bath when you are abruptly awoken in the middle of the night simply by the immense cloud of odor surrounding her, sleeping a mere 3 feet away on the floor below you.

I promptly made her a grooming appointment first thing this morning.

In related Sierra news, she turns 1 year old today. I can't believe it's been a year since we brought the little munchkin home with us, yet I can't remembering not having her around. She's become such a part of our family, a part of our daily routine, and a wonderful (although, at times smelly) roommate.

With the talk of my husband and I starting a family beyond our little furball munchkin very soon, I can't help but hesitate at the thought of Sierra taking a backseat in our lives. I know this hesitation is completely insane and when the day comes that my husband and I welcome in our own little bundle of joy, Sierra will no doubt take an unavoidable drop on our list of priorities. But the thought of her being neglected in any way breaks by heart. Afterall, she is my baby girl. She can make the worst day ever turn into the best day ever only by the excitement I see in her when I walk in the door.

If I am this head over heels in love with my dog, I can only imagine what parenthood is going to do to me.
