popsicles all around
Tonight I am faced with my first babysitting job. Ever.
I grew up in a neighborhood very similar to a retirement community, where the closest kid to my age or younger was at least a 10 minute pink Huffy with pink and white streamers bike ride away. Way too far for segregation, let alone babysitting jobs. This childhood experience (or lack-there-of) has left me very untrained in the child care business...and leaves me with a weary feeling for the day that I actually have to babysit my own baby.
So when one of my best friends approached me about babysitting her nearly 3-year-old, I was honored. Honored by the fact that she actually thinks enough of me to put the life of her child in my hands. Whether she was under the influence of highly potent drugs at the time or she actually has faith in me, I happily accepted.
I look forward to my evening filled with Superman cartoons, baseball with a koosh ball (his new favorite game, I'm told), reading Sesame Street books, and eating lots of popsicles.
Although, I'm not sure that he is quite as excited...

"Mommy! Why are you leaving me alone with this crazy lady?!"
