the bad, the worse, and the ugly

My girlfriends and I just recently discovered a way to search for fellow alumni from our high school through MySpace.com. (I know, we're a little late on this discovery...) We've spent the last couple of days going back and forth with e-mails like "Oh. My. God. Did you see 'so and so'?! What a total geek!" and "Hey Beth*, did you see Ryan Avery* on there?! I especially like the pictures of himself holding beer bottles to his mouth, posing in front of a beer pong table! He's, what? 30 now? What a loooooser!" and so on...

Ah, the glorious days of high school. Memories that make us shutter to think of who we dated back in the day. What drugs were we on to have swooned and pined after such imbeciles?! Now, granted, we had our fair share of decent hook-ups with the scholar athletes, otherwise known as the "popular boys" - but there were those boys in between that acted as our rebellion, our craving for a 'bad girl' reputation, or our outlet from the 'good girl' image we trying so hard to hold on to. Whatever the excuse, we certainly dated our fair share of roughnecks, troublemakers, and (what our parents considered to be) total losers.

It was all for the thrill of the moment. Getting to hang out with the senior boys when we were freshmen, being invited to some of the coolest parties, and being known around school as the one to be dating "Mr. Got Busted for Smoking Pot Behind the School Last Week." It was what made our high school days that much more memorable.

I may be unbelievably embarrassed by my track record of ex's....but I wouldn't change a thing.

* names have been changed (duh)

Dang! I didn't know you could do that. I'm gonna go check it out right now. Thanks -- I was just about to do something productive. Glad you put a stop to that for me.

oh no, please don't misinterpret the meaning of this post...I am not poking fun at people with a MySpace.com account (who am I to criticize, afterall?!).
